Este Jueves 07 de junio de 2012 a las 19:30 hrs. en la Biblioteca del Centro de las Artes de San Luis Potosí Centenario, se presentará a través de una conferencia y el trabajo artístico de Rebecca Lennon, artista residente en San Luis Potosí, seleccionada de la convocatoria de Intercambio de residencias para creadores en arte y nuevos medios, EMAN-EMARE México 2012
Nació en Manchester, 1981. Actualmente reside y trabaja en Londres. Se graduó de MA Fine Art, The Slade, Londres, 2010. Entre sus exposiciones individuales se encuentran 'Don't let it end this way, tell them I said something', Bloc Projects, Sheffield, 2012; 'We are Stuck Here Together', Ceri Hand Gallery, Liverpool, 2010 y 'Since They Got Rid of Time' Galerie Metro, Berlin, 2008. Participación en exposiciones colectivas se incluyen 'Transitio_MX Festival de la Ciudad de México, octubre de 2013, 'Move Forward – New Mexican European Media Art', Halle (Saale) Alemania, 2012; 'Still Outside (or Unexplained)', Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool; '10 Chapters', Banner Repeater, Londres, 2012; 'Re Read' Assembly Projects, Londres, 2011, 'Making Ships in Bottles', Cafe Gallery Projects, Londres, 2010, 'Spasticus Artisticus', Ceri Hand Gallery, Liverpool, 2010 y 'The Economy of the Gift', A Foundation, Liverpool, 2010. Ha sido seleccionada para la Residencia de EMAN-EMARE en CANTE (Centro de Arte y Nuevas Tecnologías) en San Luis Potosí, México, 2012.
Rebecca Lennon draws on cinema, the media, sub-cultures and the everyday in her texts, videos, sound works and performances. The found, stolen and bought are re-organized and edited according to a skewed but strict logic; censored, exhausted and repeated like a malfunctioning echo. Hijacking the familiar and the alien, Lennon overlays contradictory ideas and perspectives, to create a montage ideology that empties itself out before the viewers' eyes, estranged propaganda that no longer makes sense and empty spectacles that are enacted and deflated at the same time.
